Burden

Curiously, I was working on this piece when the "Heavy" prompt came up on IF. It's acrylic on collaged text on an old book cover, about 6x9". I think Easter was on my mind, but how it came out quite this way I'm not sure I want to know. Click for a better view of the texts, from an old encyclopedia (Incubation) & and old dictionary (Incubus).

speaking as a parent and a child this captures nicely the ambiguities and mixed feelings of the relationship.

and by the by, my fellow is available for your late payers. Business has been a bit slow lately so you will find his rates have come down a bit.

Looks like a lot of brooding going on here Leah! My goodness, that was a rather large egg to lay - must have hurt something fierce. I'm very curious to see what hatches.
This is a beautiful and thought provoking work. I always marvel at your brushwork – that subtle cross-hatching you do is very satisfying to look at.

It is a very beautifully painted piece and I really like you painted on the old book cover - enhance the mysterious feel of the piece. Cool concept for Easter. Thanks for dropping by my blog: http://timafli.blogspot.com

Thanks so much for letting me know about the broken IF link! I love the moodiness and ambiguity of this piece. I want to keep looking at it to read its story.

What a strange but gorgeous painting. Where do you get these ideas? They are certainly unique. And I just love the collaged text and book cover idea. There is so much depth created by the layers -I'd love to see it in person!

If you're waiting for some perspicacious comment to hatch from that man's head, you'll be waiting awhile

I also agree that the 'execution is way beyond awesome'. Do some people actually speak in this manner.

I guess they do.
