Freelancer

This painting is a takeoff on Bosch's Wayfarer, a protest against the Orphan Works bill, & a general free-lancer's lament. Yes, I'm feeling a bit whiny, but I hope there's enough humor to leaven the sob story.

Acrylic on map on canvas, 10x10".

I'm happy to report that this image will appear in Spectrum 16!

You've executed this week's topic beautifully. The saucer-like eyes of the subject express so much. I look forward to seeing the finished piece.

Very nicely done, and a very topical illustration of some of the things that are giving alot of us grey hair. I really like the use of the old globe art too.

The central design seems curved, like an old globe. It glows and I can definitely see the Bosch reference!

This is glorious and I love the references. More please.

Well doesn't the information that you spend such time and care creating, doesn't your information "want to be free"?. Doesn't it blow the shofar and intone in its best Paul Robeson fashion, "let my pixels go"?
Perhaps not.
Best regards, Neil

I like your style very much - as soon as I saw your blog I was reminded of Remedios Varo - one of my favourite artists - it's the detail, and depth and richness of colour I think - I can also see Bosch in this one.

wonderful! Your work is so beautiful, even when it's focused on such an ugly subject! This orphan act is SO scary!

Your work reminds me of the art of Remedios Varo...do you know of her? She seems to have fallen a bit by the wayside of art history but I love her stuff.
