Polar Distress

Here's my painting for IF this week... poor old Earth wearing her melting polar icecap.

The text & map are from 19th century books, digitally copied & mounted on canvas, then painted over with acrylics. Then a bit more tweaking in Photoshop... 6x6"

Great illustration,
unfortunately it may be a little too close to the truth...

I was looking forward to your entry this week, and you didn't disappoint. Fabulous as always, Leah! I like your take on the polar theme. The use of old text in your paintings gives them a rich antique feel. Keep them coming!

What an absolutely wonderful and special take on this theme! I'm almost lost for words, and that doesn't happen very often :)

Just gorgeous, and what an innovative and imaginative way to push the message on global warming. Beautiful once again.

Rarely do i see mixed mediums gell together so powerfully.
I think it takes a very strong concept to do it.
Which you have.
Great work.

This is so brilliant and poignant. I love how the words of the text fit the piece, and add even more feeling to an already super strong image.
